TOY PLANES DON'T CRASH
2022 - 15 mins - Drama
Set in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, an oblivious and imaginative young boy tries to complete a school project for career day. However, tensions rise when his father loses his job as a pilot and his mother has second thoughts about them immigrating to the United States.
This is the story of Latin American immigrants that doesn’t involve violent, brash, and blatant racism. This is the story of Latin American immigrants that doesn’t involve scenic shots of people trekking across the border into American wilderness. We are more than farmers, laborers, construction workers, maids, lawn mowers, gardeners, and other occupations that the American film industry likes to designate specifically for us. We have stories of our own. This is a story that has never been told before. This is the semi- autobiographical story of my family and millions of other families across the United States who's lives changed forever, whether it be the day they immigrated, or Tuesday, September 11th, 2001.
